Why a round brilliant?

Because it is the cut every other cut is measured against. The round brilliant's 57 facets are arranged to send the most light back to the eye of any shape, which is why a one-carat round reads brighter than a one-carat anything else — and why it is the shape most people picture when they hear the word "diamond". What is a lab-grown diamond?

A lab-grown diamond is a real diamond. It is pure carbon in the same crystal structure as a mined diamond, with the same hardness (10 on the Mohs scale), the same brilliance, and the same grading scale — it is grown over weeks in a laboratory instead of over a billion years underground. A gemologist cannot tell the two apart by eye; only specialist equipment can. What changes is the price: a lab-grown stone costs a fraction of a mined one of the same grade, and comes with none of the mining.

Why silver, and not gold?

Because the stone is the point. A one-carat D-colour diamond in a heavy gold setting would add lakhs for metal that sits under the stone. Care instructions

Store in the Zanvari box when not wearing. Put the ring on last, after perfume and lotion. Wipe with a soft microfibre cloth; a diamond can also be cleaned in warm water with a drop of mild soap and a soft brush. Frequently asked questions

Are lab-grown diamonds real diamonds?

Yes. Chemically, physically and optically they are diamond — pure carbon, 10 on the Mohs scale, graded on the same colour and clarity scale as mined stones. The only difference is origin, which is disclosed on the laboratory report.

Is this the same as moissanite?

No. Moissanite is a different gemstone (silicon carbide) with more fire and a lower price; most of Zanvari's range is moissanite and we say so plainly on every page.
