Why an emerald cut?

An emerald cut does not sparkle the way a round does; it glows, in long, clean flashes off its stepped facets, like light on still water. It hides nothing — the wide flat table shows the stone's clarity plainly — which is why it is the cut serious buyers choose when the stone is good, and why a lab-grown stone in D–E colour makes so much sense in it. The elongated rectangle makes the finger look longer, sits flat against a wedding band, and reads as tailoring rather than jewellery. Hence the name: the stone is the picture, and the four corner prongs are the frame.

What is a lab-grown diamond?

A lab-grown diamond is a real diamond. It is pure carbon in the same crystal structure as a mined diamond, with the same hardness (10 on the Mohs scale), the same brilliance, and the same grading scale — it is grown over weeks in a laboratory instead of over a billion years underground. A gemologist cannot tell the two apart by eye; only specialist equipment can. What changes is the price: a lab-grown stone costs a fraction of a mined one of the same grade, and comes with none of the mining.

Why silver, and not gold?

Because the stone is the point. A one-carat D-colour diamond in a heavy gold setting would add lakhs for metal that sits under the stone. Care instructions

Store in the Zanvari box when not wearing. Put the ring on last, after perfume and lotion. Wipe with a soft microfibre cloth; a diamond can also be cleaned in warm water with a drop of mild soap and a soft brush. Frequently asked questions

Are lab-grown diamonds real diamonds?

Yes. Chemically, physically and optically they are diamond — pure carbon, 10 on the Mohs scale, graded on the same colour and clarity scale as mined stones. The only difference is origin, which is disclosed on the laboratory report.

Why does an emerald cut sparkle less than a round?

Because it is a step cut, not a brilliant cut: its facets are long parallel planes rather than small triangles, so it returns light in wide flashes instead of tiny points. It is a different kind of beauty — calmer, more architectural — and it shows off a colourless, clean stone better than any other shape.

Is this the same as moissanite?

No. Moissanite is a different gemstone (silicon carbide) with more fire and a lower price; most of Zanvari's range is moissanite and we say so plainly on every page. The Chic Frame is diamond. Does it pass a diamond tester?

Yes — it is diamond. A standard thermal tester reads it as diamond because it is; only specialist origin-testing equipment distinguishes lab-grown from mined.

How do I find my ring size?
