Natural amethyst is the most prized variety of quartz, coloured by iron impurities that produce its characteristic violet-purple range. The stones in the Lilac Drop are selected for their light-to-violet character — a softer, more approachable colour than the deepest purple amethysts, while still carrying the stone's characteristic warmth. The teardrop shape elongates the stone's visible face, showing more of the amethyst's natural colour than a round cut of equal weight, and the pointed base draws the eye downward along the neckline.
