Ring Size Guide Pakistan — How to Measure Your Ring Size at Home
Nobody is born knowing their ring size. Let's fix that in about two minutes.
The short answer
Zanvari does not use a numbered size scale. Our sizes are the actual measurement — the inner diameter of the ring in millimetres. When you see 17MM on a product page, it means the hole in the middle of that ring measures 17 millimetres across.
So you don't need to convert anything. Measure the inside of a ring that fits, in millimetres, and order that number. Our rings come in 16MM to 19MM for her and 18MM to 21MM for him. If you get it wrong, we resize it free — see the bottom of this page.
Why our sizes look different from everyone else's
Most jewellers quote you a code. Asian size 13. US size 6½. UK size N. Those numbers and letters don't mean anything you can measure — they're positions on a scale, and you have to look them up in a chart to know what they refer to.
We skip the code and give you the measurement itself. A Zanvari 17MM ring is 17 millimetres across the inside. That's it. There's nothing to decode.
The upside is that you can check it yourself with a ruler at home, and you'll never be caught out by a chart that used a different scale than the one you assumed.
The one thing to watch: an Asian size 13 is not 13mm. It's about 17mm. If a shop in Saddar has told you that you're a 13, that's an Asian scale number, and on our site you want 17MM. The chart below converts all of it.
Three ways to find your size at home
Method 1 — You already own a ring that fits (the easiest)
Take a ring that fits the finger you have in mind. Lay a ruler across the inside of it, edge to edge, at the widest point. Read the millimetres.
That number is your Zanvari size. If it reads a little over 17, order 17MM. A little over 18, order 18MM.
Measure the inside, not the outside. Measuring the outside is the single most common mistake, and it will make you order a size too big.
Method 2 — Paper strip or thread
Cut a thin strip of paper, or use a piece of thread. Wrap it around the base of your finger — snug, but not so tight that it digs in. Mark where the ends meet. Lay it flat against a ruler and read the length in millimetres.
That number is your circumference. Divide it by 3.14 to get your diameter, which is your Zanvari size. Or just find your number in the chart below and skip the arithmetic.
One warning: paper stretches less than thread, and thread stretches less than a rubber band. Use paper if you have it.
Method 3 — Ask us
If you'd rather not guess at all, message us on WhatsApp at 0342 8269771 and we'll help you work it out. It costs you nothing and takes a few minutes.
Size chart — every system, converted
| Zanvari size | Inside diameter | Circumference | Asian | US | UK | Usually fits |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 16MM | 16.0 mm | 50.3 mm | 10 | 5½ | K–L | Slim fingers |
| 17MM | 17.0 mm | 53.4 mm | 13 | 6½ | N | Most common for women |
| 18MM | 18.0 mm | 56.5 mm | 16–17 | 7¾–8 | P–Q | Fuller fingers · slim fingers for men |
| 19MM | 19.0 mm | 59.7 mm | 20 | 9 | R–S | Broad fingers · common for men |
| 20MM | 20.0 mm | 62.8 mm | 23 | 10¼ | T–U | Men |
| 21MM | 21.0 mm | 66.0 mm | 26 | 11½ | V–W | Men, broad fingers |
16MM to 19MM are available on our rings for her. 18MM to 21MM on our rings for him. Asian, US and UK equivalents are the nearest match — those scales step in fixed increments and don't always land exactly on a whole millimetre.
Quick conversions if someone has already given you a size
- “I'm an Asian 13” → order 17MM
- “I'm an Asian 17” → order 18MM
- “I'm a US 7” → order 17MM
- “I'm a US 9” → order 19MM
- “My finger measures 53mm around” → order 17MM
Measure at the right moment
Fingers are not a fixed size. Ours least of all — this is Karachi.
- Don't measure in the afternoon heat. Fingers swell in warmth and humidity, and a size taken at 3pm in June can be a full size larger than the same finger in January. Measure in the evening when your hands are at rest, or on a cool day.
- Don't measure right after chai, exercise, or a long drive. Same reason.
- Don't measure when your hands are cold. Cold shrinks fingers, and you'll order a ring that won't get past your knuckle in summer.
- Measure the same finger, on the same hand. Most people's dominant hand is slightly larger.
- Check your knuckle. If your knuckle is noticeably wider than the base of your finger, size to the knuckle — the ring has to get over it. A ring that spins a little is a small annoyance; a ring that won't go on is a bigger one.
- Between two sizes? Go up. Always. A slightly loose ring can be worn today. A slightly tight one cannot.
You're buying it as a surprise (and cannot ask)
We know. Half our engagement rings are bought by someone standing very still in a room, hoping not to be caught.
A few things that actually work:
- Borrow a ring she already wears — one she wears on the same finger, ideally. Measure the inside with a ruler, or press it into a bar of soap and measure the impression. Put it back before she notices.
- Ask her sister, her best friend, or her mother. They almost always know, and they are almost always delighted to be asked. It is the most reliable method there is.
- Compare fingers with someone whose size you know. Rough, but better than nothing.
- When in genuine doubt, order 17MM. It's the most common size for women in Pakistan, and it is the easiest to size down from if needed.
And if none of that is possible — order anyway. Get the proposal right, and let us handle the ring. Which brings us to the important part.
If the size is wrong, we will fix it
This is the part we'd like you to read before you worry.
You have 30 days to exchange your ring, and a size change is free. Not discounted — free. Message us on WhatsApp, send it back, and we resize or remake it in the correct size. You do not need to explain yourself, and we will not make you feel silly about it. Guessing a size from across a room is genuinely hard, and we would rather you had a ring that fits than a story about one that didn't.
Within the same 30 days, you can also exchange for a different piece entirely if the ring isn't right for another reason.
The two things to know before you order
- Engraved rings are different. An engraved ring can still be size-changed — we remake it as a new ring for a Rs. 1,500 charge — but it cannot be swapped for a different article, returned, or refunded. Engraving makes a ring yours in a way that can't be undone. So please be certain of the size and the design before you add engraving.
- Natural stones vary. Every natural ruby, emerald, sapphire and topaz is unique in colour and character. If the shade isn't what you hoped, we'll happily exchange it for another stone in a colour you prefer.
And if something arrives broken, damaged, or with a piece missing — that's on us, not you. We'll replace it, or refund you in full with nothing deducted. Our workmanship is covered for six months, and rhodium replating is free for the life of the ring.
Frequently asked questions
What does 17MM mean on a Zanvari ring?
It means the inner diameter of the ring measures 17 millimetres — the distance straight across the hole in the middle. It is a real measurement, not a code from a numbered scale. You can check it against any ring you own with an ordinary ruler.
Is Asian size 13 the same as 13mm?
No, and this catches people out constantly. Asian size 13 is roughly 17mm in diameter. The Asian scale is a sequence of numbered steps, not a millimetre measurement. If you've been told you're a 13, order 17MM.
What ring size is most common for women in Pakistan?
17MM — an inner diameter of 17 millimetres, which is roughly an Asian 13 or a US 6½. If you are measuring for the first time and the finger seems average to you, 17MM is a sensible starting point.
What ring size is most common for men?
19MM to 20MM. Men's rings also tend to be wider bands, and a wide band fits more snugly than a thin one at the same size — so if you're between sizes on a broad men's band, go up.
Does “17MM” mean the width of the band?
No. It's the inner diameter — the distance across the hole. Band width is a separate measurement, listed on individual product pages where it matters.
Do you offer half sizes?
Not as standard sizes on the website. If you fall clearly between two sizes, message us on WhatsApp at 0342 8269771 before ordering and we'll tell you honestly whether we can make it for you.
How do I measure if I don't have a ring or a ruler?
Wrap a strip of paper around the base of your finger, mark where it meets, and photograph it next to any object of known size — a banknote works, they're a standard length. Send it to us on WhatsApp and we'll do the maths.
The ring is a little loose. What now?
If it spins but stays on, that's normal and often preferable — fingers swell in summer. If it slides off, message us within 30 days and we'll size it down free of charge.
How long does a resize take?
Every Zanvari ring is made to order, so a resize is genuinely a remake. Allow 10–16 business days from when the ring reaches us, plus delivery.
Can I return a ring instead of exchanging it?
Yes, within 7 days. A change-of-mind refund carries a Rs. 2,000 service charge, because each ring is handcrafted individually for you. Exchanges within 30 days do not. Engraved rings cannot be returned.
Still unsure? Just ask.
There is no prize for working it out alone. Message us on WhatsApp at 0342 8269771 with your measurement, a photo of your paper strip, or simply the words “I have no idea what size I am” — and a real person in Saddar will help you work it out before you spend anything.
