The merchant's stone
Citrine is golden quartz, coloured by traces of iron, and takes its name from the French for lemon. Across the trading cultures of the Silk Road it was carried as the merchant's stone — worn for prosperity, clear thinking, and steady confidence in a deal. In Pakistan sunehla is worn as a gentler alternative to pukhraj (yellow sapphire), carrying the same warm, optimistic colour of Jupiter. A large citrine in a plain silver bezel is understated in a way gold-toned stones rarely are: the cool metal makes the warm stone look warmer.
About the stone
Much of the citrine on the world market is heat-treated amethyst, a permanent and long-accepted practice that produces the same golden quartz. Every natural stone is unique: expect the shade of your citrine to differ from the photograph, from pale lemon to deep honey, and small inclusions or colour zoning are normal. If the colour isn't what you hoped for, we're happy to exchange it for another stone in your preferred shade.
Care
Citrine scores 7 on the Mohs scale — fine for daily wear, but remove the ring for heavy work. Prolonged direct sunlight can slowly fade its colour, so don't store it on a windowsill. Avoid sudden heat; wipe with a soft damp cloth and mild soapy water.
