The stone of victory

Feroza takes its name from the Persian firuzeh — victory — and has been the protective stone of Persia and Central Asia for three thousand years. The finest material has always come from the Nishapur mines of Iran, and it was the stone Persian and Mughal rulers set into armour, sword hilts, and the domes of their mosques. In Pakistan feroza is worn for protection from harm and the evil eye, and there is an old belief that the stone pales when its wearer is in danger. Like aqeeq, it is cut as a smooth cabochon and worn in a plain bezel, exactly as it has been for centuries.

About the stone

Natural turquoise is porous, and most of it on the world market is stabilised — lightly treated to harden the surface and hold its colour — a practice accepted in the trade. What Zanvari does not sell is dyed howlite or reconstituted "turquoise" powder. Every natural stone is unique: expect the shade of your feroza to differ from the photograph, from pale sky blue to greenish blue, and natural matrix veining (the dark web of host rock) is normal and prized by many. If the colour isn't what you hoped for, we're happy to exchange it for another stone in your preferred shade.

Care

Feroza is the softest stone in this collection, scoring 5–6 on the Mohs scale, and it absorbs oils and chemicals. Put the ring on after perfume, lotion, and hand sanitiser; remove it for washing, swimming, and heavy work. Wipe with a dry soft cloth only — no water soaking, no ultrasonic or steam cleaners. Worn with this care, feroza lasts for generations and develops a soft, personal patina.

Frequently asked questions

Is the feroza natural?

Yes. It is genuine natural turquoise, not dyed howlite, resin, or reconstituted powder. A grading card can be arranged on request.

Why does turquoise change colour over time?

Natural turquoise slowly absorbs skin oils, which can deepen the blue toward green over years. This is the sign of a real stone — imitation turquoise never changes.

Can I get this ring engraved?

Yes. Custom engraving is available for Rs. 2,000 additional. Engraved rings cannot be exchanged for another article, only size-adjusted. Contact Zanvari on WhatsApp at 0342 8269771 to arrange before ordering.

How do I find my size?

Sizes are listed as inner diameter in millimetres. Message us on WhatsApp and we'll help you measure, and size changes within 30 days are free.

How long does delivery take in Pakistan?

Each ring is handcrafted to order in 10–16 business days. Delivery across Pakistan takes 3–5 weeks via courier, with WhatsApp updates throughout.
