Why a bezel, and why one stone
Most men's rings that carry a gemstone either hide it or overstate it. The Meridian Ruby Band does neither. A single natural ruby sits flush in a full bezel, level with the surface of the band, where it cannot catch on a sleeve, a steering wheel, or a handshake. The bezel is the most secure setting in jewellery — the metal encircles the entire girdle of the stone rather than gripping it at points — which is why it is the setting of choice for a ring meant to be worn every day and not thought about.
The band itself does the rest of the work. Two brushed outer surfaces frame a polished channel that runs the full circumference, and the ruby sits on that line like a marker on a meridian. Against the cool white of rhodium-plated silver, the red of a natural ruby reads with unusual intensity — a single point of colour on an otherwise restrained band.
About the ruby
Ruby (yaqoot / یاقوت) is known as the king of gemstones — one of the four precious stones, and the birthstone of July. It has been worn by men across Mughal, Persian, and South Asian traditions for centuries, associated with vitality, courage, and protection. In Pakistani tradition, yaqoot is linked to the Sun and is worn to recharge energy and attract confidence.
Each stone is genuine and earth-mined, ranging from deep pink to rich red. Natural rubies contain inclusions — internal features formed over millions of years. These are not flaws. They are the proof that the stone is real, and no two are alike.
Care instructions
Store in an anti-tarnish pouch when not wearing. Avoid contact with perfume, lotion, and harsh chemicals. Wipe with a soft clean cloth. Zanvari's lifetime rhodium replating guarantee covers the plating for life, and workmanship is covered for six months.
Frequently asked questions
Is the ruby natural?
Yes. The stone is a genuine earth-mined natural ruby — not lab-created, not glass. Natural variation in colour from pink to red, and in inclusions, is expected from stone to stone and is the mark of an authentic natural gemstone.
Is this ring suitable for daily wear?
Yes — it was designed for it. Ruby scores 9 on the Mohs hardness scale, making it one of the most durable coloured gemstones available. The bezel setting sits the stone flush with the band so there is nothing to snag, and the comfort-fit interior makes it easy to wear for long stretches.
Can this be used as a wedding band?
Yes. The single stone and clean profile make it a considered alternative to a plain band for men who want colour without ornament. Ruby's traditional association with passion and loyalty makes it a fitting choice for a nikkah or wedding ring.
Will the brushed finish wear smooth over time?
Gradually, yes — a brushed surface softens with years of wear, which most owners find adds character. If you prefer it sharp, Zanvari can re-texture the surface during a replating visit at no charge.
