Real diamond, grown rather than mined, graded by an independent laboratory, and set to order in Karachi by Zanvari, third generation jewelers since 1947.

What is a lab-grown diamond?
A lab-grown diamond is a real diamond. It is pure carbon in the same crystal structure as a mined diamond, with the same hardness (10 on the Mohs scale), the same brilliance, and the same grading scale — it is grown over weeks in a laboratory instead of over a billion years underground. A gemologist cannot tell the two apart by eye; only specialist equipment can. What changes is the price: a lab-grown stone costs a fraction of a mined one of the same grade, and comes with none of the mining.
Why an emerald cut?
An emerald cut hides nothing. Its long, flat step facets act like a hall of mirrors and show the stone's clarity plainly, which is why it is the cut serious buyers choose when the stone is good — and why we set it only in D colour, VS1 clarity. It does not sparkle the way a round brilliant does; it glows, in broad slow flashes that read as old money rather than new. On the ear, a matched pair of emerald cuts is the most formal stud there is.
Why silver, and not gold?
Because the stone is the point. Two carats of D/VS1 diamond in a heavy gold setting would double the price for metal you cannot see behind the ear. Care instructions
Store in the Zanvari box when not wearing. Apply perfume before putting the earrings on. Wipe with a soft microfibre cloth after wear; a diamond can also be cleaned in warm water with a drop of mild soap and a soft brush. Rhodium plating will naturally lighten with daily wear — Zanvari's lifetime replating guarantee means this is never a concern.

Are lab-grown diamonds real diamonds?
Yes. Chemically, physically and optically they are diamond — pure carbon, 10 on the Mohs scale, graded on the same colour and clarity scale as mined stones. The only difference is origin, which is disclosed on the laboratory report.
Is this the same as moissanite?
No. Moissanite is a different gemstone (silicon carbide) with more fire and a lower price; most of Zanvari's range is moissanite and we say so plainly on every page. The Meridian Studs are diamond. Do these pass a diamond tester?
Yes — they are diamond. A standard thermal tester reads them as diamond because they are; only specialist origin-testing equipment distinguishes lab-grown from mined.
What does the laboratory report show?
Carat weight, colour grade, clarity grade, cut, measurements, and confirmation that the stone is laboratory-grown. Each stone has its own report, and both ship with the earrings.
Is this suitable as a bridal or engagement gift?
