What is a lab-grown diamond?
A lab-grown diamond is a real diamond. It is pure carbon in the same crystal structure as a mined diamond, with the same hardness (10 on the Mohs scale), the same brilliance, and the same grading scale — it is grown over weeks in a laboratory instead of over a billion years underground. A gemologist cannot tell the two apart by eye; only specialist equipment can. What changes is the price: a lab-grown stone costs a fraction of a mined one of the same grade, and comes with none of the mining.
Why a pear?
A pear spreads its weight along the ear rather than across it, so a one-carat pear reads longer and larger than a one-carat round — and the point gives the face a line no other shape does. Worn point-down it lengthens the neck; point-up it reads sharp and modern. Matching two pears for outline is the hardest match in the fancy cuts, because the shoulders, the belly and the point of each stone all have to agree; it is part of what you are paying for.
Why silver, and not gold?
Because the stone is the point. Two carats of D/VS1 diamond in a heavy gold setting would double the price for metal you cannot see behind the ear. Care instructions
Store in the Zanvari box when not wearing. Apply perfume before putting the earrings on. Wipe with a soft microfibre cloth after wear; a diamond can also be cleaned in warm water with a drop of mild soap and a soft brush. Are lab-grown diamonds real diamonds?
Yes. Chemically, physically and optically they are diamond — pure carbon, 10 on the Mohs scale, graded on the same colour and clarity scale as mined stones. The only difference is origin, which is disclosed on the laboratory report.
Which way should the point face?
Either. Point-down is traditional and lengthens the face; point-up is contemporary. The stud sits on a straight post, so you can turn it whichever way you like on the day.
Is this the same as moissanite?
No. Moissanite is a different gemstone (silicon carbide) with more fire and a lower price; most of Zanvari's range is moissanite and we say so plainly on every page. Do these pass a diamond tester?
Yes — they are diamond. A standard thermal tester reads them as diamond because they are; only specialist origin-testing equipment distinguishes lab-grown from mined.
What does the laboratory report show?
Carat weight, colour grade, clarity grade, cut, measurements, and confirmation that the stone is laboratory-grown. Each stone has its own report, and both ship with the earrings.
How long does delivery take in Pakistan?
