About the topaz
Topaz is the birthstone of December and the traditional fourth anniversary stone. At 1.00 to 1.50 carats, the stone in this ring has real presence — blue topaz is a relatively light-toned gemstone, so it needs size before the colour has enough depth of material to gather and hold. The oval cut helps: its elongated shape gives light a longer path through the stone than a round of equal weight, which deepens the apparent blue.
Topaz scores 8 on the Mohs hardness scale, harder than quartz, emerald or peridot, and well suited to a ring worn regularly. It forms in long prismatic crystals — among the largest gem crystals found anywhere.
An honest note on colour
Almost all blue topaz on the world market — including this stone — begins as colourless natural topaz and is given its blue by irradiation and heat, a treatment that has been standard in the gem trade for decades. Naturally blue topaz exists but is extremely rare and usually very pale. The stone is genuine natural topaz: mined, not manufactured. The colour is permanent, stable, and will not fade with wear. Zanvari would rather tell you this plainly than let you assume otherwise.
Spiritual significance
Topaz has long been considered a stone of clarity, truth, and calm judgement. In South Asian and Persian tradition it is worn to steady the mind, cool anger, and bring the wearer's intentions into focus. Blue topaz in particular is associated with clear communication — saying what you actually mean.
Care instructions
Topaz is hard but has perfect cleavage in one direction, which means a sharp knock at the wrong angle can split it even though it resists scratching. Store in an anti-tarnish pouch when not wearing. Avoid contact with perfume, lotion, and hairspray, and never use ultrasonic or steam cleaners or expose the ring to sudden temperature changes. Wipe gently with a soft damp cloth. Zanvari's lifetime rhodium replating guarantee covers the plating for life.
Frequently asked questions
Is the topaz natural?
Yes — it is genuine earth-mined natural topaz, not glass and not synthetic. Its blue colour comes from irradiation and heat treatment, which is standard for virtually all blue topaz sold worldwide. A gemstone certificate is available to confirm the stone is natural topaz.
What are the accent stones?
The stones surrounding the topaz and running down the shoulders are moissanite — a genuine gemstone made of silicon carbide, scoring 9.25 on the Mohs hardness scale. It has more fire and brilliance than diamond and its sparkle is permanent: it will never cloud, dull, or fade with wear. Zanvari uses moissanite for every accent and side stone across the collection.
Should I get the certificate?
We recommend the certificate (Rs. 10,900) for gifting or if you want documented proof that the stone is genuine natural topaz. For personal wear, Rs. 9,900 offers the same ring at a lower price. The topaz is natural in both cases.
Is this a good December birthday gift?
Yes. Blue topaz is the birthstone of December and the traditional fourth anniversary stone, making this one of Zanvari's most popular December birthday and anniversary rings.
