About the stone
Turquoise is a copper mineral: copper gives it the blue, and traces of iron push it toward green. Feroza has been worn across South Asia and Persia for centuries. It is opaque, so it is polished smooth rather than faceted — at nose-pin size it reads as a solid dot of sky blue rather than a sparkle. At 5–6 on the Mohs scale it is softer and more porous than ruby, sapphire or amethyst, so it asks for a little more care.
Care instructions
Turquoise is porous and reacts to perfume, make-up, oils and soap, which can dull it or shift its colour over time — so put the pin in last and take it out first. Keep it away from water and cleaning products, and wipe the stone with a soft dry cloth after wear.
